My pretty mother Heather, turning 70 next month would you believe!

Rhodes Memorial

Rhodes Memorial today, with my mom Heather Foat, for breakfast. I had the most average B&E at the tea garden in like forever...I realized again how much I hate mediocrity...it takes so little effort to present food well...no excuse to plop food onto a plate in such a dull, unappealing way. Culinary fail! -5 stars

Rhodes Memorial for those of you not from Cape Town, is a huge monument above the University of Cape Town that has a fabulous birds eye view of a section of the city...large statues of lions and Cecil John Rhodes on his steed, & the tea garden of course, that is perfect for just that..tea!

I bought a Philip Kerr this eve and ordered How to be a Gentleman by John Bridges. Our men need it in this mad age with the loss of etiquette - my thinking anyway ^

Reality check

Reality check: A recent survey said 42 percent of children in India under age 5 are underweight - almost double that of sub-Saharan Africa; this means 3,000 children are dying daily due to illnesses related to poor diets - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has admitted that malnutrition is "a national shame” and was putting the health of the nation in jeopardy.

For those of us who have what we need, let's do what we can to give where we can ...meet a need where you can...one person at a time...
