Adelaide Tambo

This pic was taken in Johannesburg in about 2004, with the late Adelaide Tambo, wife to the late Oliver Tambo, the great ANC leader who once ran a legal firm with Nelson Mandela. I was having tea with her at her home in Houghton. At the time she was the Honorary Patron of Cape Town City Ballet where I was Marketing Director, and I was in touch with her a lot when it came to arranging her tickets to ballet performances at Artscape. When in Cape Town, Adelaide stayed in Sea Point, as did I. She used to call me one of her 'daughters' and sometimes would call me to ask me to get her some cheesecake from the New York Bagels....they do a smashing one there by the way.

Pure Juice

All the goodness of carrots, apple & ginger. It made up for the revolting mushroom omelette I had this morning at Melissa's at the Waterfront. Avoid that menu item!! Stay with the freshly squeezed juices. That omelette was thin & flat as a taco, scant mushrooms & just bland bland bland. Life is too short for beige food. For the best omelette, Sirocco in Kalk Bay or Haas in Bokaap.

A Parrot goes to the Vet

This is our parrot, a little green Pionus, waiting in line at the vet. Very dramatic is Byrd (yes that's his name), because we think he fainted!!

Myatt for a light lunch

The perfect light lunch ~ Aubergine caviar,roasted courgette,parmesan shavings & rocket, on a toasted baguette which I dusted as am on a no carbs diet (boring). Myatt is on the upper level of the V&A Waterfront, one of the best waterfront malls in the world, just saying.

Boxing Day ...

Every Boxing Day that G-d gives, we go to my late Dad's sister for a Braai (South African for barbeque) & reconnect with lots of family members we generally seldom see. It's great! This year my cousin from Vancouver was there & we'd not seen him in 23 years! It's always very festive!

This is Lateral Paul's elegant mother Winnie....she is 96 & looks incredible. Eats strictly organic, has done so for at least 30 years before it was fashionable. Remarkable !
