A Road Trip to Riebeeck Kasteel, outside Cape Town

Adventures, adventures, right on our doorstep. 'Riebeeck-Kasteel (this bit is extracted off Wikipedia) is one of the oldest towns in South Africa, situated 80 km from Cape Town in the Riebeek Valley together with its sister town Riebeek West. During 1661 Commander Jan van Riebeeck (who landed & named the Cape of Good Hope in 1652) initiated an inland discovery expedition under the leadership of Pieter Cruythoff. They set off in the direction of Paardeberg and on 3 February 1661 they ascended a lonely mountain and came upon the fertile vista of the Riebeek Valley'.

This is me speaking-RK is an amazing town...so picturesque & close to the City, taking under an hour to reach. A big event here every year is the Olive Festival in May, something everyone can enjoy, loving olives or nay - so People From Afar, add this to that To Do list! This weekend I have zoned in on the Old Oak Manor & Cafe Felix...so far I am so impressed with fabulous food...more about the accommodation later. Again I say, 'you don't need a holiday, you need Cape Town'- phrase courtesy of Cape Town Tourism. Take a drive ...a road trip...good for the soul!

This pic: almost there....

Cows chilling.....

Deliciousness resides here...

Cheesecake as the finale....
